When questioned re riding in early part of home straight, rdr std rounding home turn he initially tried to shift out, but his mnt commenced to lay in & was reluctant to do so. Std at entrance to home straight, he anticipated a run would develop so he elected to attempt to obtain this run, however passing the 400m the run closed & put his mnt in an awkward position close to heels & racing tight. Added after being held up for some distance he then was required to shift out after the 300m to obtain clear running. RHIL 28/09/2024 Steel Blaze Rdr could offer no explanation for the gelding’s poor performance other than he was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the race. MUBR 12/10/2024 I’ve Bean Tryin’ Near the 400m was disappointed for a run between rnrs. DUBB 29/09/2024 High Dandy (NZ) Made the home turn awkwardly. Rdr reported he had anticipated taking up a prominent position similarly to how his mnt had been ridden at its most recent starts, however after being slow to begin and with the solid early tempo, it did not show sufficient speed from the outside barrier to race near the lead and as a consequence was obliged to race wide and without cover from the 1000m. RHIL 14/09/2024 Too Much Caviar (NZ) Bumped a runner on jumping away. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider explained that in his view the gelding had not run out a strong 1800m, he added that the heavy weight which the gelding had carried in this event and in its two previous starts this preparation may have taken a toll on its performance today. Stewards noted rider’s explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.BATH 15/09/2024 Vivy Air Blundered on jumping. Rdr reported that from the wide barrier he was caught racing wide and without cover and in his opinion his mnt did not appreciate the fast tempo throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow recovery and to be coughing. Stable representative was advised that a vet clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination will be required prior to the mare being permitted to barrier trial or race again.DUBB 29/09/2024 Belleistic Kids Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. KENS 09/10/2024 Race 3 BISLEY WORKWEAR REGINALD ALLEN QUALITY 1400M Wings Of Desire Steadied near 100m. Rdr said mount raced in restricted room concluding stages and was awkward on heels and unable to ride mount out to finish. FLEM 05/10/2024 Dominetta Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. GCST 13/01/2024 Good Sort Began fairly. Held up from 350m until approaching the 200m. W FM 25/09/2024 Island Dec Bumped heavily on jumping. K GR 03/10/2024 Aeliana (NZ) Rdr reported the filly was not suited by the firm racing surface. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities. KENS 09/10/2024 Poppin’ Champagne The mare, which was reluctant to lead up from the tie-up stalls to the mounting enclosure, was examined behind the barriers & passed suitable to race. Rdr reported that after being crossed near the 1300m the pace of the race slackened, which resulted in his mnt being awkwardly placed at the heels & being required to shift out from behind. He added that when in a wide position he elected to improve fwd due to the slow sectionals. He further added that after being obliged to race wide & without cover & was one paced when placed under pressure. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Std it took some distance to obtain cover which was achieved at the 800m where mnt then travelled well, however tempo of race through mid stages was slower than expected & this made it difficult for mnt to make up appreciable ground. Std mnt came under pressure rounding home turn & although it responded to riding it did not close off as strongly as expected, & it appeared to pull up without any issue & suggested it may have raced below expectations being second-up. Std after riding mnt along to obtain a forward position in early stages, he anticipated obtaining a position outside leader near the first turn, but when no one was being ridden to hold the lead, he allowed his mnt to continue to stride forward into lead near 700m, & although it performed well it was impacted by the work he was obliged to do in early stages to obtain the lead. He said after settling near rear of field his mnt closed off fairly but not as well as he would have expected, & he added it had worked well prior to this race & he was not able to offer any explanation for its performance. RHIL 14/09/2024 King Of The Castle (NZ) When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding rdr stated that the gelding settled in a handy position and travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages. Rdr stated his mount failed to sprint strongly on straightening and only ground its way to the line. Rdr stated his mount raced like a tired horse. Trainer advised the gelding would be spelled.
