PRESIDENTS REPORT
It has been a privilege to serve our great club in the season past.
On behalf of the Preston Pirates Baseball Club it’s committee and
life members, I would like to welcome you to our AGM.
I would like to state from the outset that we as a community
sporting club have achieved many of our goals over a number of
years. I know the passion is still growing to keep exceeding our
new participation targets, both at junior level and senior level.
Our club, your club has a rich and deep history which spans over
104 years. We all value its past but we respect the demands
that a modern day community sporting club experiences. There
are many more sports that seek the attention of our current
and future members, than in past years. There is more demand
financially and as a committee our goal has and always will be
to provide an inexpensive sporting experience, while striving to
provide state of the art facilities along with quality coaching staff.
Our achievements and our success is testament to loyal,
dedicated members both on and off the field. Two teams, the
players, juniors/seniors and the administration team. Without
these two groups the club does not survive.
Many thanks must go to the committee members this year,
Sharon Fittock, Myles Foreman, Pamela Nelson, Shorty Sidley,
David Norris, Rod Steer, Brian Sinfield, Mike Deeble, Jenny
Deeble, Brendon Cox, Peter Gallagher and Grant Llewellyn.
We had the passing of a very much loved player, coach and life
member recently, Peter Sincoe. At his service there were many
life members wishing a clubman farewell. In this sad time I know
Peter would have enjoyed seeing the clan coming together and
giving us a rev up to get on with it.
Peter was a straight shooter who left you in no doubt what he
thought, that is why he was a great coach and businessman.
Included in this Annual Report is a piece written by another long
time member who expressed his feelings in a special way that
acknowledged some of our past hero’s as well.
Our junior program is regarded as one of the best in the league
and is often mentioned as an example to clubs that are struggling
with a junior program. It has grown again in the past season and I
believe will grow further this coming season. Not by accident but
by planning and good administration.
Thanks must be passed on to the junior head coachMarshall
skinner the junior coordinators, Brian Sinfield, Jamie Pearce,
Myles Foreman and Donna D’Avoine, who also coordinated
the junior committee which included Kate Bonser, Marianne
Foreman and Belinda Paine.
