CHAIR ADAM LENNEN CHAIR’S WELCOME Hello and welcome to Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights, featuring tonight’s Group 2 highlight, the Clamms Seafood Australia Stakes. It’s a pleasure to see this quality sprint showcased under lights at Southside Pakenham. The race has proven to be an important autumn pathway to Group 1 success. Last year’s winner, Schwarz, went on to claim victory at the elite level in the 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes, underlining the strength of this feature event. We are also proud to see Cheering For Charity return tonight. Keep an eye out for the distinctive Cheering For Charity saddlecloth, as we raise vital funds for our charity partner, the Leila Rose Foundation. Off the track, Southside Pakenham is buzzing with activity, offering something for everyone. Families can enjoy live music, carnival rides, and a range of kids’ activities, making it a fantastic night out for all ages. Tonight also marks the beginning of seven consecutive weeks of Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights, continuing next week at Southside Cranbourne. For those unable to attend on course, the Members’ Hub at Legends provides a welcoming alternative to enjoy the racing atmosphere. SANL 08/01/2026 Cyclone Harmony Held up for clear running between the 500m and 300m.CRAN 19/12/2025 Global Eclipse Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 300m. RR that he had been instructed to be in a handy position and in the early stages when a runner to his outside, showed intent to race forward, he elected to ease to obtain cover. He added through the middle stages when runners improved around his mount, he was unable to improve ultimately settled further back than intended. He added that whilst he had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight, the gelding responded to his riding fairly when placed under pressure. Vets endoscopy detected a throat condition SANL 08/01/2026 Pending List Began awkwardly. Near the 1900m commenced to overrace and when being eased off heels got its head up and shifted out abruptly. SALE 21/12/2025 Bons To Riches Held up when unable to obtain a clear run from the 400m until the 100m. When being held up passing the 250m was momentarily tightened for room. Approaching the winning post was eased when racing in restricted room. MORN 01/01/2026 Orovero Rider reported he had been given no specific instructions other than to settle where comfortable. Added he had anticipated settling midfield however after beginning only fairly the gelding settled further back than intended. Added failed to finish the race off as expected. FLEM 05/07/2025 Power Cable Bumped on the hindquarters at the start. CRAN 03/01/2026 Understudy (NZ) Held up for clear running from the 400m to the 200m. CRAN 03/01/2026 Mislead Near the 300m was steadied and lost its rightful running between runners. Held up until the 150m, where it was again disappointed for a run between runners, both of which shifted ground, and as a result was again held up until the 50m. PAKM09/01/2026 Masterful Lost its near-fore plate in running. CRAN 19/12/2025 Race 7 Clamms Seafood Australia Stakes (Chute) 1200M War Machine (NZ) Began awkwardly. Rdr reported that the gelding was not comfortable on the rain-affected track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. RAND01/11/2025 Veight Began awkwardly and shifted in. Steadied shortly after jumping away to avoid heels. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Tnr could offer no explanation for disappointing performance. DOOM 17/05/2025 Maharba RR gelding, which was resuming from a long spell, weakened over the latter stages and would derive fitness benefit from today’s first-up performance. Added that the gelding returned to scale in a normal manner. Trainer concurred with the views of rider and further stated that in his opinion the gelding was not suited by racing on the inside section of the track. FLEM 10/01/2026 Hedged Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. RR overraced in the early and middle stages, it failed to finish its race off. Trainer reported that the gelding would now be freshened up.FLEM 10/01/2026 Nadal Held up for clear running from the 400m to the 250m. Rdr said inst to ride horse in a manner to finish its race off and for the reason he did not make use of his mount in the early stages to hold a position behind the leader. SANL 26/12/2025 Aztec Ruler Held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 200m. FLEM 10/01/2026 Cannonball Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 400m. BRAT 06/12/2025 Jimmy Recard The offside barrier rebounded after the start. FLEM 04/10/2025 Race 8 Ladbrokes SRM in Multis Handicap 1400M Paradise City Held up for clear running from the 500m until passing the 350m. FLEM 10/01/2026 Sirius Statement Held up for short distance near the 250m. SANL 10/12/2025 Supercilious Restrained in the early stages fro its wide barrier and settled towards rear of field. GEEL 03/01/2026 Perfect Ending Near the 1800m had to be steadied when taken in onto another runner MORP 11/05/2024 Terilee Began awkwardly and brushed with a runner. When questioned regarding the filly racing more prominently, rider explained he had been asked to ride the filly with cover, however envisaged holding a position handy to the leaders. Rider added that whilst his mount began awkwardly, he asked it to improve in order to obtain a position behind the early leaders, however he was then caught wide and as a result, he allowed Terilee to stride and settle more forward than he had expected. SANH 14/06/2025 Empress Of The Sun (JPN) From the 300m until near the 200m was awkwardly placed and unable to improve. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that the mare failed to travel on today’s Soft 6 track conditions, never feeling comfortable on the shifty surface. A representative of the stable could offer no explanation for the performance, however indicated that they would consider sending the mare for a spell in the coming days. F/Up Stable advised that the mare pulled up sound and will now be spelled. SANH 30/07/2025 Queen Of Tuscany Rider could offer no explanation for the performance. Post-race vet exam – no abnormalities. CRAN 19/12/2025 Blistering Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight. BY BEN SPORLE Dual Ladbrokes Cox Plate champion Via Sistina has run her final race with trainer Chris Waller and connections Yulong announcing her retirement on Sunday. Via Sistina, the oldest mare at eight years of age (Southern Hemisphere time) to win the W.S. Cox Plate, will be remembered as a Valley Champion — one of only fourteen horses to have won the Cox Plate on multiple occasions and the holder of the 2040-metre track record around the former Moonee Valley circuit. In total she claimed 12 Group 1 races and $19.4 million in prizemoney headlined by a staggering eight-length Ladbrokes Cox Plate win in 2024 and a memorable clash with Buckaroo in 2025, making the final race on The Valley as we knew it one for the ages! “We feel that following her second Cox Plate win and her impressive victory in the Champions Stakes, she hasn’t come back this preparation as her normal, highly energetic self,” Chris Waller said in a statement.
