Eagle Farm

NATIONAL APPRENTICE RACE SERIES At the half way mark of the National Apprentice Race Series the leaderboard is tight at the top with only a point separating the two leading states - Tasmania and South Australia. With Heat 4 to be contested at Eagle Farm today Queensland is in need of some bonus points. Queensland currently is alongside Western Australia on 14 points. The current points earned are: Tasmania 25; South Australia 24; Northern Territory 16; and Victoria on the bottom with 11 points. Heats have already been staged at Alice Springs, Hobart and Belmont (WA). After Eagle Farm the NARS final heats will be run at Sandown (April 15) and Murray Bridge (April 22). Two races at each designated venue are reserved for the competing apprentices. The NARS concept has been warmly embraced by the chosen apprentice jockeys as it gives them exposure to new tracks and a chance to observe different riding styles.
