Std rather than continuing to pressure mnt, he elected to ease to try to obtain cover, bearing in mind it was stepping up in distance from 1100m to 1400m. He added after passing the 1000m, a rnr improved forward to lead near the 900m, which resulted in his mnt racing wide without cover through middle stages where it travelled keenly & refused to settle. She said that, after straightening, her mount became held up and was unable to be tested, until being shifted to the inside of another runner passing the 200m. She said that, inside the final 200m, her mount had clear running but was unable to regather momentum and ran to the line only fairly. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities. W FM 03/06/2026 Winston Hills Rdr reported it was his intention to settle near midfield, however after beginning well and when no runners positioned to his inside showed any intent to contest the lead, to avoid being caught wide, he allowed his mnt to stride forward and obtain the lead passing the 1000m.
