IT IS MY GREAT PLEASURE TO WELCOME YOU TO 2025 LADBROKES COX PLATE DAY. Today marks a truly historic occasion as we stage the final meeting on the current track. It is a defining moment in the Club’s proud history as we look ahead to The Valley of Tomorrow. The atmosphere promises to be electric as we witness the 105th running of the Group 1 Ladbrokes Cox Plate. Australia’s Best Race carries a record $6 million in prizemoney this year, with $4 million to the winner. There are captivating storylines everywhere you look, including Via Sistina, who is aiming to go back-to-back and would provide James McDonald with a fourth consecutive victory in the race. It is a superb day of racing with nine black-type races along with the inaugural Strathmore Community Bendigo Bank Imperatriz Sprint. Among the highlights is the Group 2 Cirka McEwen Stakes, with the winner earning a golden ticket into Southside Racing’s Meteorite as the Club’s slot representative. Adding to the prestige, it is fantastic to have World Pool covering the entire program, showcasing The Valley to a global audience. An iconic tradition of Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day is the singing of The Horses, and it is a pleasure to welcome Daryl Braithwaite back to continue this special moment. Following the final race, the entertainment continues on track with a concert featuring the Australian Rock Collective. Members of Spiderbait, Jet, Powderfinger, and You Am I will bring the Carnival to a fitting close. I encourage everyone to purchase a Cox Plate Charity Pin on course today for $10, with proceeds supporting our Charity Partner, Myeloma Australia. Their work supporting people living with myeloma, their families, and raising awareness of this blood cancer is truly outstanding. On behalf of the Club, I extend my sincere thanks to our Principal Partner, Ladbrokes, and to all our Carnival sponsors and partners who make this event possible. Finally, to our loyal members, thank you for your continued support as we embark on this exciting new era. Enjoy a memorable Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day, and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming transferred meetings.
