HOYSTED Robert (Bob) Edward Hoysted AM (1925–2014) was an outstanding trainer, best known for champion sprinter Manikato, Australian Horse of the Year 1978/79 who won 29 races in a career stretching from the 1978 Golden Slipper to the 1983 Futurity. After war service with the Royal Australian Navy, Bob Hoysted began training in the 1950s. He was an Executive Member of the Australian Trainers’ Association for twenty years, and Federal President 1985– 1997. Part of a notable racing dynasty, in 2008 he joined his father Fred (1883–1967) in the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.
