2 In the best interests of its Members, Guests and Visitors, and the Community of Albury/ Wodonga, the Albury Racing Club promotes the Responsible Serving of Alcohol. Responsible serving of alcohol is vital for the comfort, health and safety of members and their guests, It is also essential for legal reasons. Albury Racing Club has adopted the following HOUSE POLICY providing a framework for the Responsible Serving of Alcohol. 1. To prevent under age drinking, proof of age must be provided when requested and may include drivers licence, passport or proof of age card. 2. Persons who are intoxicated will be refused entry to the race course. 3. Any patron will be refused service if they are considered to be intoxicated. 4. We will educate our staff and patrons as part of our duty of care to ensure they understand the implications and abide by our Responsible Service of Alcohol policy. 5. We will support and actively promote initiatives to safeguard the well being of our patrons by:- a) Providing non alcoholic drinks and low alcohol products at bars b) Providing access to food at times bars are operating c) Providing transport options and assist with alternative transport arrangements d) Adopting responsible liquor promotions Alcohol and the Law In NSW various acts control the sale and service of alcohol. Four basic points which are relevant to Responsible Serving Practices are:- 1. A person shall not sell or supply liquor to a person under the age of 18 years 2. A licensee shall not permit intoxication, or any other quarrelsome, indecent or violent conduct on their licensed premises. 3. A person shall not sell or supply any liquor to any person who is at the time in a state of intoxication. 4. Where a person is intoxicated on the licensed premises, the licensee shall be deemed to have permitted intoxication on the premises unless they and their employees took all reasonable steps to prevent intoxication on the licensed premises.
