The award is adjudicated by Bob Charley, Margaret Lucas and Racing Victoria Stewards. The inaugural 2017 Bob Charley Saddle was won by Stephen Pateman. Bob Charley Saddle The Warrnambool Racing Club thanks Bob Charley for his generous support. This award is presented in honour of Jim Houlahan OAM. The Ironbar acknowledges the most important event in Jim's life, when as a nineteen year old, he rushed to the aid of his father who was being gored by an Ayrshire Bull. This instinctive act of courage prevented a tragedy and epitomises the values exhibited by Jim throughout an illustrious career in jumps racing. The Ironbar award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival. Previous winners include George Taylor OAM, Mark Primmer, Marg Lucas and Gai Waterhouse. The Ironbar
