The Ironbar acknowledges the most important event in Jim's life, when as a nineteen year old, he rushed to the aid of his father who was being gored by an Ayrshire Bull. This instinctive act of courage prevented a tragedy and epitomises the values exhibited by Jim throughout an illustrious career in jumps racing. The Ironbar award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival. Previous winners include George Taylor OAM, Mark Primmer, Marg Lucas and Gai Waterhouse. The Ironbar
