Moonee Valley Racing Club respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to its Elders past, present and emerging. With the year drawing to a close, it gives us a chance to reflect on a remarkable year of racing at The Valley. There have been a number of highlights across the calendar year, including the thrilling victory by Hong Kong’s 2000-metre champion Romantic Warrior in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate, Imperatriz’s clean sweep of the Group 1 sprints, the 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes, Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes, and Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes, and Mr Brightside’s win in the Sharp EIT All-Star Mile. We have a short break from racing following today’s meeting, before returning on January 27 for a big card featuring the Group 2 Australia Stakes. It’s the start of seven-straight weeks of racing, with the Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights series firing back up through February and into March, before the season draws to a close on March 23 with 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes Day. A heartfelt appreciation goes out to all our members and partners for their unwavering support, without which the remarkable accomplishments of 2023 would not have been possible. I’d like to wish you all a safe and happy New Year and look forward to seeing you back at The Valley in 2024. CHAIR ADAM LENNEN CHAIR’S WELCOME HELLO AND WELCOME TO OUR FINAL MEETING OF 2023.
