The Valley

Moonee Valley Racing Club respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to its Elders past, present and emerging. WELCOME TO THE LAUNCH OF THE LADBROKES FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS SEASON. There is something special about racing under lights at The Valley and what a fantastic way to celebrate its return with Group 1 action in the Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes. We had the privilege of seeing Imperatriz in action in the Mittys McEwen Stakes earlier this month, where she delivered an incredible performance, breaking the 1000m track record. Imperatriz will be hard to beat once again, but she’ll face tough opposition headed by Asfoora. The Group 1 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes headlines a quality eight-race card with the Group 2 Entry Education Stutt Stakes, Group 2 Ladbrokes Stocks Stakes, featuring star WA mare Amelia’s Jewel, and the Group 3 University Food Group Scarborough Stakes. The new season of Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights also sees the return of Cheering For Charity and the Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge. With an enhancement of format, the Cheering For Charity horse is now voted on by the public for a selected race, and if it wins, Ladbrokes will donate $2000 to the charity partner for the night. If the horse doesn’t win, MVRC will donate $500 to Make-A-Wish Australia, tonight’s charity partner. Make-A-Wish Australia are also our 2023 Cox Plate Carnival Charity Pin partner. The Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge is always a highlight of the night racing season, with the speedsters clashing in heats over 955m. The trainer of the fastest heat winner at the end of the season receives a cheque valued at $55,000 thanks to our Principal Partner, Ladbrokes. It’s not only the fast horses that are on display, with the quickest Essendon District Football League men and women taking part in ‘Sprint for the Stars’, a 100m sprint on the home straight, taking place following Race 4. What a night of racing it will be, and we’re back at The Valley next Friday, 6 October, for BCNA Race Night. CHAIR ADAM LENNEN CHAIR’S WELCOME
