Tonight’s feature race is named in honour of long-serving Committee member and former Chairman of the MVRC between 1960 - 1975, Sir Alan John Moir. As a prominent lawyer and company director, Sir Alan was great grandson of former Victorian Premier, Sir Graham Berry and related to Mr Henry Albert Underwood, of the Underwood racing family. The race was first won by Scamanda and boasts an honour roll of the country’s finest sprinters, including Manikato, Black Caviar, Miss Andretti, Apache Cat and Buffering.
