The Valley

WELCOME BACK TO THE VALLEY AFTER A WEEK’S BREAK FOR THE MELBOURNE CUP CARNIVAL. It was fantastic to see our 2024 Ladbrokes Cox Plate winner, Via Sistina, continue her winning ways with victory in the Champion Stakes, and Mr Brightside, who once again performed admirably in his third Ladbrokes Cox Plate, take out the Champions Mile. We are now back to the excitement of Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy the action under lights, with the buzz of spring racing and the warmer weather as we approach summer. Featured on tonight’s card is The Road to the Jericho, a genuine staying test over 3800m and a lead-up to the Jericho Cup at Warrnambool on December 1. We’ve also got Heat 5 of the Ladbrokes 55-Second Challenge. Charmed Run, trained by Luke Oliver, set the season’s benchmark two weeks ago with a time of 55.13 seconds. Our Cheering For Charity partner this evening is Racing Hearts. Lisa Coffey and her team do remarkable work with their Equine Assisted Therapy practice based on the Mornington Peninsula. Here’s hoping we can cheer home a win for them! Have a fantastic night, and I look forward to seeing you again next Friday. CHAIR ADAM LENNEN CHAIR’S WELCOME Moonee Valley Racing Club respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to its Elders past, present and emerging.
