The Valley

The Feehan Stakes is a Group 2 Weight For Age race over 1600 metres for horses three years and older. Originally known as the Glenroy Stakes, the race was established in 1948 before being renamed the John F. Feehan Stakes in 1949 in honour of John Francis Feehan, who was instrumental in the formation of the Moonee Valley Racing Club in 1917. John served initially as Vice-Chairman, before later becoming Chairman until his passing in 1949. Carrying prizemoney of $500,000, the Feehan Stakes is the only Australian race to offer ballot exemption into the 2023 Ladbrokes Cox Plate. GROUP 2 JOHN F. FEEHAN STAKES
