The Valley

Moonee Valley Racing Club respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to its Elders past, present and emerging. It’s great to have so many top horses in action for one of our marquee days of the Spring Carnival. A spot in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate is on the line in the Group 2 Clamms Seafood Feehan Stakes. The mile race under Weight-For-Age conditions is named in honour of John Francis Feehan, who was instrumental in the formation of the Moonee Valley Racing Club. The Group 2 Mittys McEwen Stakes is also going to be a highlight, with Clayton Douglas’ superstar sprinter Giga Kick making his spring return up against a quality field over 1000m. This year marks the 18th anniversary of our enduring partnership with race sponsor Mittys. During this period, numerous champion sprinters have won the race, including Miss Andretti, Hay List, Buffering, Chautauqua, and Nature Strip. We can’t wait for Saturday’s edition! Racegoers will be able to purchase the 2023 Cox Plate Carnival Charity Pin on Saturday from the Merch Stalls and Make-A-Wish volunteers. We are thrilled to once again partner with Make-A-Wish Australia. The charity does amazing work in creating positive and lasting impacts on the lives of sick children and their families. Before the racing starts, we have 20 Pony Club riders competing in the Ride To Time Victorian State Championships, with an Open and Maiden section. Good luck to all competitors and we hope you have a fantastic day at the track. Best of luck to all connections on Saturday. We look forward to seeing everyone at The Valley for the launch of the Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights season on 29 September, featuring the Group 1 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes.
