Near the 700m again shifted out when overracing and close to the heels of Botany and as a result made heavy contact with another runner. Settled midfield when wide without cover allowed to stride after passing the 1400m to settle closer to the leaders. M V 03/11/2023 Staunch Slow to begin. R: been asked to ride the gelding with cover. After being slow to begin, mount settled towards the rear of the field. Added from the 500m, had been intention to trail the favourite however when the tempo quickened mount came under pressure and elected to save ground and maintain position rather than shifting out. Pleased with the manner in which mount finished the race off. GEEL 25/10/2023 Makusha Restrained in the early stages.
