WELCOME TO ANOTHER EXCITING LADBROKES FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS MEETING AT THE VALLEY. We’re in the middle of a busy racing period, with this evening being the penultimate Friday night meeting of 2023 before our two Saturday meetings on December 23 and December 30. It’s a competitive eight-race card, with good depth to the fields across the night. Our Cheering For Charity partner for this evening is Heartkids. They are the only national not-for-profit organisation solely focused on supporting and advocating for all people impacted by childhood heart disease. Look out for the horse carrying the Cheering For Charity saddlecloth in the Heartkids For Xmas Handicap (Race 2). Away from the track, there’s a range of activities, entertainment, bars, and dining for an unforgettable night out. For those after the ultimate adrenaline rush, head to the Piazza and test your driving skills with the Racecar Driving Simulator Experience. Settled midfield when wide without cover allowed to stride after passing the 1400m to settle closer to the leaders. M V 03/11/2023 Staunch Slow to begin. R: been asked to ride the gelding with cover. After being slow to begin, mount settled towards the rear of the field. Added from the 500m, had been intention to trail the favourite however when the tempo quickened mount came under pressure and elected to save ground and maintain position rather than shifting out. Pleased with the manner in which mount finished the race off. GEEL 25/10/2023 Makusha Restrained in the early stages. Rdr said inst to take up a forward position however after beginning only fairly from wide barrier he eased to avoid being caught wide.BDGO 28/11/2023

WAGG 03/11/2023 Smokey Warrior Rider reported failed to run out the distance of today’s race strongly and would be better suited dropping back in distance at its next start. BRTS 11/07/2023 Esseffninety When questioned rider explained that the mare failed to travel throughout the event and was under pressure throughout due to the strong tempo of the race SEYM 22/10/2023 Altrove Held up for clear running and unable to improve from the 200m until passing the 100m. FLEM 13/05/2023 Lascars When questioned rider explained the gelding was fractious in the barriers before the start and was inclined to lay out throughout the event. He added failed to respond to his riding in the straight as expected and did not feel entirely comfortable in its action. A post race vet exam revealed the gelding to be lame in the right hindleg. A vet clearance is required prior to racing again. SEYM 22/10/2023 Explosive Thinker Raced wide in the early stages before striding forward to settle outside the leader near the 900m. Rdr said after covering ground early mount then failed to finish race off as expected. SANL 10/04/2023 Monteverde (NZ) Performed below market expectations. Rider could offer no explanation.
