When questioned regarding his riding from the 500m, rider John Allen explained that after initially being held up he was then reluctant to place his mount into a run between Snow Patrol and Wolfy as he felt both horses may shift ground and he would have met with interference. He added, as a result he was then held up until passing the 250m where he was able to shift to outside the heels of Wolfy to obtain clear running.
