Valley ROARS ON LADBROKES MANIKATO STAKES NIGHT BY DARCY COSGRIFF There was an undeniably electric atmosphere at The Valley on Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes Night, with attendance well and truly exceeding expectations. The shift of the meeting to AFL Grand Final eve proved a success, backed up by both the crowd figures and the hugely positive reception on social media afterwards. MVRC Head of Racing, Charlotte Mills, was thrilled with the outcome, and said the club had been working tirelessly to promote the night in the weeks leading up to it. “We put plenty into this night, knowing the growth was there from last year, and it delivered,” she said. “Crowd-wise – last year we had circa 7000; we aimed for a minimum of 8500 (this year) and ended up with close to 10,000. “A public holiday, interstate visitors and Victoria's guaranteed footy energy is the perfect backdrop to The Valley's Friday night racing season opener.”
