THE MOIR STAKES IS A GROUP 1 WEIGHT-FOR-AGE RACE OVER 1000M Today’s featured race, the Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes, pays tribute to the legacy of Sir Alan John Moir, a racing enthusiast who served as a longstanding committee member and former Chairman of the MVRC from 1960 to 1975. Sir Alan, a prominent lawyer and company director, was the great-grandson of former Victorian Premier Sir Graham Berry and a relative of Mr. Henry Albert Underwood from the renowned Underwood racing family. The race, won by Scamanda in its inaugural running, boasts an illustrious honour roll featuring some of the country's most celebrated sprinters. This list includes legendary horses such as Manikato, Black Caviar, Miss Andretti, Apache Cat, Buffering, and Imperatriz.
