HELLO AND WELCOME TO SATURDAY AT THE VALLEY. It is exciting to have our first stakes race of the season, with the Listed Paramount Liquor Carlyon Stakes for the sprinters over 1000m. The race honours Norman Carlyon, who made a significant contribution to the Moonee Valley Racing Club as a committee member and Chairman. It is a race that has proven to be a great pathway to Group 1 success in recent years, with both Bella Nipotina (2022) and Mornington Glory (2024) going on to win top-level sprint races at The Valley in the spring. Today’s program also features the Dr Sheahan Plate, named in tribute to Dr Gerald Sheahan, a beloved local medical practitioner and distinguished Life Member of the Moonee Valley Racing Club. This week also brought the exciting confirmation that Flemington will host the 2026 Ladbrokes Cox Plate. With the decision now locked away, we look forward to working closely with the Victoria Racing Club to deliver a landmark edition of Australia’s Best Race. If you are not yet a member, now is the perfect time to join. Our Multi-Season Membership provides access to all MVRC race meetings across the next two seasons, including this year’s Ladbrokes Cox Plate at The Valley and the 2026 edition at Flemington. We look forward to welcoming you back in a fortnight for the launch of our Spring Racing Carnival, highlighted by the running of the Group 1 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes. CHAIR ADAM LENNEN CHAIR’S WELCOME Moonee Valley Racing Club respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to its Elders past, present and emerging.
