PRINCIPAL PARTNER SATURDAY 22 MARCH 2025
HELLO AND WELCOME TO 3 POINT MOTORS WILLIAM REID STAKES DAY. Today, we celebrate 100 years of one of Australia’s great sprint races. The 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes honour roll boasts legends of the turf, including Manikato, who incredibly won five consecutive editions. More recently, champions like Apache Cat, Black Caviar, and Imperatriz have claimed multiple victories. It’s fantastic to have Apache Cat on course today from Living Legends. This year’s 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes has attracted a strong field. Jimmysstar is chasing back-to-back Group 1 sprint victories but faces tough competition from the likes of Stretan Angel, Benedetta, and She’s Bulletproof. Beyond the feature race, today’s program includes five other black-type races, headlined by the DCE Alister Clark Stakes and the Packaging Needs Sunline Stakes at Group 2 level. We’re also delighted to once again host the Victorian Finals of the National Pony Series, in partnership with Thoroughbred Industry Careers and Pony Club Australia. These finals showcase young riders wearing some of racing’s most famous silks. It’s a fantastic day for families, with plenty of activities for the kids, including a visit from Crossword the Shetland. Enjoy your day at The Valley, and I look forward to seeing you at our final meeting of the 2024/25 season—Manhari Saturday at The Valley on 26 April. CHAIR ADAM LENNEN CHAIR’S WELCOME Moonee Valley Racing Club respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to its Elders past, present and emerging.

The existing Open 1000-metre handicap is the race that will be revamped in her name, with prize money increased from $150,000 to $200,000. The Te Akau Racing stable star was unbeaten from five starts at The Valley, including four Group 1 wins at the track. She is the current 1000m track record holder, with a time of 56.47 set in the 2023 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes. In 2023 she also became the first horse in history to claim The Valley Sprint Triple Crown, winning all three Group 1 sprints across the year. In 2024 she returned to The Valley and defended her crown in the 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes, joining elite company in Apache Cat and Black Caviar as the modern-day dual winners of the race, while also winning the three Valley Group 1 sprints in the same season. Imperatriz retired as the highest-rated sprinting mare in the world and was sold at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for a record $6.6 million to Yulong Investments. Currently in foal to Pierata, Imperatriz has taken to broodmare life as well as she did to her career on track, and as we celebrate 100 years of the William Reid Stakes, it is a fitting week to announce the Imperatriz Sprint on Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day in 2025.

I'm very funny, but if you want horse related facts, I competed at the MI3DE pony challenge and got the loudest cheer (with Delilah) after nearly falling off when she said a hard 'NO' to one of the solid obstacles. I have also competed in various dressage competitions such as Australian Dressage Championships in the FEI children's test. Delilah was bred to be a show pony, but she was born to jump! Delilah isn't what you would typically picture if you think of an eventer, but she has the heart for it. She goes to show that any breed or type of pony can be an eventer as long as they love it and you look after them well. 8 Carl and Lorraine Holt Mia-Rose Cornish Rochester Pony Club Spots I love to ride horses all the time I also like netball and athletes Spots might be old in age but doesn't act it she loves games cross country show jumping and plenty more and always looks after me 9 Ciaron Maher Racing Ruby Davis Benalla Pony Club Stormi I was a 2024 National Pony Race finalist Stormi loves Zooper Doopers NATIONAL PONY RACING SERIES 2024/25 MOONEE VALLEY, VICTORIA LARGE PONY RACE FEILD
