As an owner and MVRC member, Simon’s favourite Valley moments are having his horses win at the track and the W.S. Cox Plate. Simon fell in love with the Cox Plate back in the 80’s after seeing Bonecrusher win the ’86 edition and listening to Bill Collins’ infamous call ‘Kingston Town can’t win’. He has hardly missed attending a Cox Plate since. He remembers following a handy horse called Winx when she won her first Cox Plate back in 2015. Simon backed Winx at the luxurious odds of $6 and sat in the Grandstand to watch. He recalls holding his breath when Winx was caught on the fence but then a small gap emerged and she drove straight through the field, winning in a canter by five lengths. It was a moment he will never forget! Three years later he was sitting in the same spot when Winx won her 4th Cox Plate. SIMON DAVEY MEMBER RECOGNI T ION
