30 The Moonee Valley Racing Club was saddened by the passing of legendary trainer and owner Jim Marconi earlier this week. Taking out a trainers license in 1977, the best horse Jim ever put a saddle on was arguably Rancho Ruler, who won the 1988 Manikato Stakes ridden by Darren Gauci. Four years earlier as an owner, Jim finished second in the 1974 edition of the W.S. Cox Plate with his galloper Taras Bulba. The MVRC sends its condolences to Jim’s family and friends.
