The Feehan Stakes is a Group 2 race over 1600 metres for horses three years and older. Inaugurated in 1948 as the Glenroy Stakes, the race was renamed the John F. Feehan Stakes in 1949. John Feehan was Vice-Chairman when the Club was formed in 1917, before serving as Chairman from January 1949 until his passing in June the same year. In honour of the Feehan family, Feehan Avenue replaced McPherson Street in 2021 as the new address for the Club. With a prize purse of A$500,000, the Feehan Stakes is the only local ballot-exempt race leading into the 2022 Ladbrokes Cox Plate. John F. Feehan Stakes
