20 JEFF SPENCER (J.E.H> MEMORIAL STEEPLECHASE The Terang & District Racing Club is honoured to be hosting today's J.E.H Spencer Memorial Steeplechase paying tribute to Jeff Spencer. Jeff was widely recognised and respected as a passionate supporter of racing, with a high regard for the Pakenham Racing Club. In his earlier years, Jeff was a great supported of 'Point to Point' racing where he raced and trained his own horses, the most notable being 'Windava'. Jeff had a long association with the Melbourne Hunt Club where he was Master from 1971 to 1981. It is fitting that Jeff is remembered today with a steeple race named in his honour. Jeff was also Patron of the Gippsland Riders and Frieds Club, so it is fitting that today's race also recognises Jeff's passion and long time involvement in the 'hunt' and with various Hunt Clubs. The Terang & District Racing Club is delighted to today welcome Jeffs nephew Jeff Urie that has carried on the tradition begun by his uncle. Jeff Urie started the Gippsland Riders and Friends Club in 2009 after resigning from his role as Master of Melbourne Hunt Club from 1995-2009. GRAF is a club that Jeff Spencer was delighted to support after being established by his nephew, the club covers various equine activities including Hunting, Trail Riding, Beach Rides, Hunt Races and virtually anything members may wish for.
