It is great to see so many visitors in town to attend the Carnival and on behalf of the Committee we sincerely hope your visit to Swan Hill is a fantastic experience. Today is Pooles Accountants Golden Topaz Day and the first of three days of great racing action. Thank you to Pooles Accountants who continue to sponsor this great race, your support is greatly valued. The “Pooles Accountants Golden Topaz” today is worth $150,000 in prize money along with the “Commercial Hotel Swan Hill Vobis Gold Elvstroem Classic” which is another $125,000 race. All up there is $545,000 in prize money on offer for Day 1. As well as great racing action and quality fields we have a host of hospitality and entertainment options on offer. A special welcome to patrons today enjoying the Swan Hill Women in Racing (SHWIR) Golden Topaz in The Hub. SHWIR have now been supporting the SHJC for 27 years and on behalf of SHJC our sincere thanks to Sharon Anderson and the hard-working committee. I would like to thank our wonderful team at Swan Hill Jockey Club in Aaron, Alison, Jonty, Harry, and Joe, along with all other casual staff who worked throughout the year. The staffing team and the rest of the SHJC committee and volunteers are continuing to improve our racing surface and facilities each year. Our new Winning Post Pavilion is being used for the first time today and looks fantastic.
