In Memory of Helen Cantwell November 23, 1939 - April 25, 2025 The Sale Turf Club honours the memory of Helen Cantwell, who served as Club Secretary from 1967 until her retirement in 2003, and later as a Trustee on the Racecourse Committee of Management until 2023. A driving force behind the Club’s growth, her leadership saw major facility upgrades and the development of Sale into one of Victoria’s leading provincial racecourses. In recognition of her outstanding service to the industry, she was named Lady of Racing in 1997 and awarded the Australian Government’s Sports Medal in 2000. Her legacy remains deeply embedded in the heart of Sale racing.
