In Loving Memory of Alfred Edgar Kneebone (Alf) 27th April 1923 - 11th May 2021 The Australians tackle the almighty Kiwis in a trainers’ race rivalry. Winning trainer takes all (and bragging rights for their country) plus a generous credit towards yearling shopping at Karaka 2025 thanks to New Zealand Bloodstock. The race is named after the highly respected racing scribe Alf Kneebone and celebrates the talented trainers produced by both Australia and New Zealand in the industry. The 2021 Hunter Raceday marked the inaugural running of the race and it was taken out by Chris Waller – representing the Kiwis with Mightybeel. A year later the Aussies hit back, with Rondino scoring for Greg Hickman. Waller struck again for NZ last year with Wineglass Bay! NB: The race is open to all horses trained by Australian or New Zealand-born trainers. Winning stake will be received by owners as per Racing NSW regulations, with the winning trainer receiving an extra trophy and $5,000 NZB credit towards the Karaka 2024 yearling sale. Other Racing NSW nominations, rules and deadlines apply. For the purpose of the Trans -Tasman Trophy, trainers not born in Australia or New Zealand will be considered.
