DUMMY SPIT (N Callow) – Rider reported that the gelding had attempted to buck for one stride near the 1000m but raced tractably for the remainder of the event. Trainer A Perdon was advised that a warning would be placed on its record. LORD GEORGE (M Pegus) – Gates were marginally slow to open. Raced wide throughout. FLASH FIORENTE (A Nicholls) – Rider advised that the gelding resented the kick back when racing to the first turn and got its head in the air having to be restrained passing the 700m. Held up from the 500m to the 400m and was taken outwards to obtain clear running. HELLIVIT (P Denton) – Bounded on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Lay outwards rounding the home turn. 1ST LITTLE DITTY 2ND CAPTAIN GEORGE 3RD MISS BLACK DIAMOND Race 7: bet365 Palmerston Sprint – 1200m Stewards interviewed trainer’s P Cole and G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions they intended to issue as each stable had multiple runners in the event. Stewards considered a protest lodged by Mr P Cole trainer of the fourth placed STAR MAGNUM against the third placed IDEAS MAN ridden by Jockey M Pegus alleging interference prior to straightening. It was established prior to straightening that STAR MAGNUM shifted outwards slightly and contacted the hindquarters of IDEAS MAN and accordingly it had not caused interference to STAR MAGNUM and in those circumstances, Stewards dismissed the protest. IDEAS MAN (M Pegus) – Contacted on the hindquarters by another runner prior to straightening. STAR MAGNUM (E Lines) – Fractious in the barriers. Commenced awkwardly. Contacted another runner prior to straightening. SPACESHIP (J Todd) – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start, became unbalanced and was steadied. When questioned regarding performance rider reported that after receiving this interference his mount raced keenly until the 600m and did not finish the race off as anticipated. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. KERIOTH (K Yuill) – Fractious in the barriers and reared on a number of occasions prior to the start. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off fore. Trainer C Pollard was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again. CIELO D’ORO (I Luximon) – Shifted inwards on jumping. Ridden vigorously out of the barriers to obtain a forward position and when being straightened by its rider, bumped with another runner shortly after the start. General - On inquiry it was established that CIEOLO D’ORO (I Luximon) had jumped inwards on jumping and when being straightened by its rider shortly after the start, shifted outwards slightly and contacted the hindquarters of STAR SHIP (J Todd) causing it to be become unbalanced with its rider having to steady his mount.
