Steadied outwards from heels passing the 1650m. 1ST DESERT LASS 2ND HOLSTER 3RD LADY WHISTLEDOWN Race 10: Great Northern Darwin Cup – 2050m LIVING THE DREAM (B Rawiller) – Lay inwards from the 600m. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider expressed disappointment and advised that the gelding had attained a favourable position in running and was travelling comfortably however when ridden along from the 600m it commenced to lay inwards and was under pressure shortly after. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with a slightly elevated heart rate. I AM THE FOX (P Shiers) – Steadied outwards to avoid the heels of an injured runner near the 800m. Rider advised that the gelding had not travelled well in running and after being steadied to avoid the heels of the injured runner it had failed to stretch out and did not feel comfortable in its action. A postrace veterinary examination revealed the gelding had experienced a cardiac arrythmia. Trainer T Halter was advised that the gelding was required to undergo an ECG prior to trialling and being re-examined subsequent to the trial prior to racing again. Trainer advised the gelding would also be spelled. TRIDENT (NZ) (S Wiseman) – Mistrode near the 800m and was eased down. Sustained an injury to the near fore. Due to the extent of injury the gelding was humanely euthanised with post-mortem samples taken for analysis. Stewards Report

14 Betting Regulations BET LIMITS At all race meetings conducted in the Northern Territory, a bookmaker is obliged to lay the odds displayed if demanded by the backer (including bet backs), except that the bookmaker is not compelled to lose on any one bet more than: (a) $1000 on any one Win only bet, Win and Place bet or Each Way bet. (b) $600 on any one Place only bet. (c) These limits apply up until 3 minutes prior to the advertised starting time of all local and interstate races. (d) No bookmaker shall accept a bet of less than $1 or where the bet is win and place - $1 each way. Prior to the commencement of betting on each race bookmakers must display a sign on their board clearly stating whether they wish to bet Win Only, Win and Place, Place Only or Each Way. Provided that once betting for that race has commenced no bookmaker is permitted to change from the form of betting displayed on their board. A bookmaker operating on a racecourse shall exhibit the odds first offered by him or her on each horse engaged in a local race at least 30 minutes before the advertised starting time of the first race and thereafter within 5 minutes after the declaration of correct weight or announcement of a protest. BETTING Bookmakers will payout in the following manner depending on the number of runners in the field at the time the bet was placed: 8 or more runners – pay first, second and third 5, 6 or 7 runners – pay first and second 4 runners or less – pay first only LATE SCRATCHING In the event a horse is a late scratching all bets on that runner are to be refunded (except for all in betting) and the Stewards will order deductions apply to all successful wagers on the race. DISPUTES Punters are advised to check the details of their betting ticket prior to leaving the vicinity of the Bookmakers stand.
