4 Chairman’s Welcome CHAIRMAN’s WELCOME – WESTLAWN FINANCE GRAFTON CUP 2026 On behalf of the Board and Management of the CRJC and that of WESTLAWN Finance it is my pleasure to welcome you today to the 2026 XXXX July Racing Carnival and the running of the 2026 Westlawn Finance Grafton Cup. Thank you members, owners and trainers and all guests, we certainly hope you have an enjoyable day and a great carnival. We have a fantastic program of thoroughbred racing and associated activities scheduled for today with many top-class horses in all races. The feature race is of course the $200,000 Listed Westlawn Finance Grafton Cup 2350m. This race has attracted a fantastic field of stayers, so we are looking forward to a great spectacle. Good luck to all involved. The support races are the 1400m Sky Racing Mother’s Gift, Provedores Class 1 Handicap 1400m, the Corbett Civil Big Super Maiden 1175m, the always exciting 2YO NBN News Springboard to Fame 1175m, Village Green Hotel BM66 1000m followed by the Fidelity Capital Belflyer Stakes 1175m and the time honoured traditional final race of the day the Sir James Kirby Quality Handicap 1000m which always proves to be an exciting finale. For the fashionistas there will be judging of the Purple Pearls Fashions on The Field down on the Westlawn following the running of race two so if you are interested, please ensure you go down and participate for some great prizes and a lot of fun. We certainly thank all our great sponsors of the Fashions on the Field events. I hope you have a wonderful day and do not forget we are back to wrap up the Carnival on Sunday with the Maclean Bowling Club Maclean Cup when we have plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, including the highly contested Kids Fashions on the field, playgrounds and merry go rounds to keep them happy, along with great music on the Westlawn with Tangle. I thank all our management and staff for their great commitment and dedication, as always, but particularly during this very busy carnival time, thanks to the Track Team who continue to provide one of the best race tracks in the country, the Admin Team and Management, the Bar & Kitchen team and all our casuals who help out every year.
