The Inglis Banner is named in honour of Starspangledbanner who won the inaugural Inglis Juvenile in 2008. Vlad Duric rode the two-year-old to victory on Cox Plate Day in the 1000m race held at The Valley. Starspangledbanner went on to win six of his sixteen group or listed race starts including the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield and the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot – becoming the first group one winner for his sire Choisir.
