Subsequent to the race Anders was examined by the Racing Victoria veterinary surgeon who recorded a wound to the near fore fetlock which in their opinion had been incurred prior to today. Stewards questioned co-trainer David Eustace with respect to this wound which he reported had occurred early yesterday. Mr Eustace explained the colt had been attended to by the stable veterinarian. Stewards adjourned an inquiry until having received the veterinary report and treatment records for the colt. Race 9 Regal Power 29/08/2020 Caulfield Rider reported it over raced and failed to finish the race off as expected. Vet reported a slower than normal recovery rate. Harlem 06/02/2021 Caulfield Rider reported he was instructed to find cover in the early stages but settled further back than anticipated from the wide barrier. He added that mid-race he attempted to find cover in a more forward position and that after shifting out rounding the home turn the gelding ran on fairly in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Homesman 14/11/2020 Ladbrokes Park Hillside Rider Ben Melham explained that he felt the gelding was disappointing last start at Flemington when leading and for this reason he intended to ride Homesman (USA) off the leading horses today. He added that the instructions were to be forward but not necessarily lead. Co-trainer Sam Freedman confirmed the instructions given and was satisfied with the improved performance today.
