Stewards questioned rider as to the reason why he did not trail Lofty Heights longer than he did, when passing the 1100m he shifted out to a three-wide position he was instructed to be in the first two and to ensure a good tempo through the first half of the race on which he was to build from the 1000m. He added that after having shifted to the three-wide position passing the 1100m he was then left in a three-wide position without cover until straightening.
