2 CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE Today is a special race day for the Club, the seventh edition of the Catanach’s Jewellers MRC Foundation Race Day and a day where the scope of our Foundation is well felt, particularly for our charity partners. This year we are excited to partner with 13 charities. While their purposes may be varied, in this time, their considerable crises are similar. Charities are doing it tough in 2020. Fundraising events, which for many charities are the biggest opportunities to raise funds, have mostly been cancelled. We are thrilled that we are able to continue this race day and honour our partners, albeit with a new approach. 2,000 raffle tickets have been sold (selling out in fact) with profits going to the charities, $25 from each Super Box sold (also sold out) is being donated to charities nominated by the buyer. This is a fantastic result and well above what we could have hoped for our partners. Thank you to all who have contributed already. If you would still like to support, you can donate to the MRC Foundation via mrc.racing.com/mrc-foundation/donate and all donations made until Monday will be evenly distributed amongst the charities. Another exciting element of the day is always the running of the G3 Catanach’s Jewellers MRC Foundation Cup (Naturalism Stakes). The field for this race is truly exciting, with the winner gaining ballot exemption into the 2020 Stella Artois Caulfield Cup. It is doubly exciting for our charity partners who are each randomly allocated a horse in the race and the promise of a monetary prize for 1st ($20,000) 2nd ($10,000) and 3rd ($5,000) placegetters, generously donated by ANZ, Sportsbet, Beteasy and Catanach’s Jewellers.
