He added that the filly responded well to his riding in the early part of the straight and he was satisfied with the manner in which it closed off the race. He added upon straightening he anticipated obtaining clear running, however when that run failed to fully establish he became held up until shifting out across heels near the 250m to obtain clear running, whereupon the gelding finished the race off strongly. When qst, rdr std he had been instructed to ride the filly with cover as it can race keenly and be relucted to settle. He said shortly after the start, he restrained his mnt to allow cover but it raced too keenly and proved to be difficult to settle. Passing 800m become awkwardly places at heels when the tempo reduced. He added it was held up in the early part of the home straight. Co-tnr confirmed the instructions were to obtain cover, if possible, bearing in mind the filly’s racing manners, and advised it performed well when ridden in this manner. Rdr reported after obtaining a position behind the leaders with cover, the filly travelled well, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn it was unable to make up any ground on the first two placegetters in the straight.
