Today has a strong family focus and we hope you enjoy the abundance of free entertainment that we have to partner the unrivalled thrill of live racing. Today’s feature the Listed TAB Canberra Cup has again attracted a magnificent field. Today’s other feature race is the Listed Iron Jack Canberra Guineas and is joined by a fantastic support card. Today’s race meeting is the 76th running of the Members Tipping Competition. It’s free to play and available only to members of the Club. To win, you ‘simply’ need to pick the last six winners on the card through the Club’s website. Of course, picking six winners isn’t easy but we’ve had a number of near misses with members correctly selecting 5 out of 6 in previous weeks! 2 Useful Information Bookmakers in the main betting ring are required to bet the odds to lose $2,000 plus place on Canberra Mile Day, Black Opal Day and Canberra Cup Day on Canberra races and $1,000 on other Canberra race days. On all other race meetings (away race meetings) on all race days’ bookmakers in the main betting ring are required to bet the odds to lose $1,000 plus place. Bookmakers operating on stands outside the main betting ring including function rooms on Canberra and/or other venues are required to bet the odds to lose $1,000 plus place on all race days. 3 Emergency Procedures at Thoroughbred Park You should take your immediate effects and proceed quickly (do not run). In the event of an emergency, please remember: 1. Listen carefully to the public address system, 2. Follow the directions of the Wardens and staff, 3. Move quickly to the designated Safe Assembly Areas. The safety of all who attend Race meetings and functions at Thoroughbred Park is of paramount importance. Canberra Racing Club staff are trained to effectively manage any emergency should one arise. Should an emergency situation occur, the course broadcaster will sound the alert over the public address system and issue instructions to all patrons. On hearing the instructions; patrons are requested to remain calm and prepare to follow further instructions from the Emergency Wardens. Emergency Wardens will be easily identifiable as they will be wearing coloured helmets. Mobility impaired patrons, including hearing and sight impaired, should make contact with an Emergency Warden as they may need a “buddy” to assist them. On hearing the evacuation instruction, the Wardens will usher you to the safe assembly areas, so it is essential that you follow their instructions. Unless you are instructed otherwise, the safe assembly areas are as shown below. Safe Assembly Areas A The grassed area inside the main entrance behind the public toilets. B In front of the storage sheds C The course proper (grass track) in front of the saddling enclosure. Accessed through the saddling enclosure. D For horse stall patrons, the area formerly known as the jockeys car park, which is at the back of the stalls but down next to (but not on) the course proper.

When qst regarding the performance of the gelding, rdr std instructed to lead on his mnt which was dropping back in distance & he had to make some use of his mnt in the early stages to comply with his instructions. Added nevertheless he felt his mnt was somewhat disappointing when it weakened inside the final 200m. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. SAPH 20/02/2023 Belleistic Kids Began awkwardly. NCLE 11/02/2023 November Rhythm Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with another rnr. Laid out under pressure in the straight. HAWK14/02/2023 Sennaprost Rdr reported that it was not his intention to ride his mount in a prominent position, however, after beginning well and when the gelding commenced to race keenly in the early stages, he allowed it to stride forward whereby the gelding assumed an on-pace position. HAWK 20/10/2022 Tyrol When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey stated he had been instructed to lead the event. Jockey stated that his mount travelled keenly in the lead throughout the early and middle stages and when pressured by runners improving to his mount’s outside near the 1000m, he allowed his mount to increase the tempo and maintain the lead as instructed. Jockey stated that his mount failed to quicken noticeably in the home straight and its finishing efforts were diminished by its racing manners throughout the early and middle stages and the effort exerted throughout these sections P MQ 20/01/2023 Dressed To Kill Laid out under riding from the 250m until passing the 100m. CANB 24/02/2023 Tokoyo Raced three-wide throughout. QBYN26/02/2023 Prophet Time Passing the 1000m shifted out abruptly taking other runner wider. When questioned regarding the performance of the filly, rider stated that his mount was never comfortable at any stage of the event and failed to finish its race off in the run to the line. He added in his opinion the filly was disappointing and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities. Trainer agreed with the comments made by his rider and advised the filly would now be spelled.QBYN08/11/2022 Race 3 TURFCARE AUSTRALIA HANDICAP 1400m Boy Loves To Run (NZ) Began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and made contact with another runner. GOSF 28/02/2023 Kokoshnik On jumping, was inconvenienced and carried wider. Rdr stated that after obtaining a prominent position the filly had a tendency to race keenly. He said after positioning his mount to the outside of rnr he was reluctant to remain in this position in the fear that this may cause the filly to over race further and therefore elected to steady his mnt. He added that after doing so, the filly overreacted and steadied more severely than he had anticipated. CANT 17/02/2023 Regal Inheritance Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. WYNG 21/02/2023 Galaxy Reign Missed the start 2L. Raced three-wide and without cover throughout. WAGG 17/02/2023 Don’t Thinkaboutit When qst rdr std that from his wide draw his mount was disadvantaged today by being obliged to cover additional ground to race three-wide albeit with the benefit of cover. QBYN26/02/2023 Breakaway Week After the 1100m was hampered. SAPH 20/02/2023 Our Rubin Star Commenced to race keenly early stages & near 1000m had to be steadied to avoid heels. K GR 23/02/2023 Take On Manhattan Raced wide throughout. GOUL16/02/2023 Vigoureux (NZ) An inquiry was opened into the cause of the mare appearing to blunder badly passing the 300m & almost falling. Rdr std following the incident & as he was unsure if his mnt had taken harm from the incident, he did not test it for the remainder of the race. A post-race vet exam of the mare revealed no abs. Stwds were of the view that the incident was likely due to a misstep in the mare’s galloping action passing the 300m. Passed trial at Qbyn 26/2/23. QBYN16/01/2023 Race 4 HIT 104.7 HANDICAP 1200m Retiro Began only fairly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and near the 800m had to be steadied to avoid heels. A post-race vet exam revealed the gelding to have lost is near fore plate in running. GOSF 02/02/2023 Cable Tie Began awkwardly, and made contact with another runner. When qst, rdr std he was instructed to ride his mnt positively and settle where comfortable. He added after beginning runner began and when another runner positioned to rdr outside and forward of mnt showed intent to lead he elected to allow that runner to cross to allow his mnt to settle comfortably. Around home turn mount was placed under some pressure, at 200m became badly held up when positioned behind another runner and to inside of an additional runner. Rdr was unable to test his mnt any stage thereafter. GOSF 28/02/2023

GOUL30/10/2022 Onya Lional When qst regarding the performance of the gelding rdr std his mount travelled well until passing the 550m at which point it was contacted and thereafter it was under pressure and proved disappointing in the straight. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs CANB 11/01/2023 Snappy Jim When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, rider stated that his mount usually lays out in its races however passing the 1000m his mount’s tongue-tie broke and the gelding consequently hung out much more significantly today which he said had largely contributed to its performance. A post-race vet exam did not reveal any abnormality. SAPH 03/11/2022 Lethal Lady Began very awkwardly and lost ground (2L). Approaching the 300m was steadied off heels. RAND 25/02/2023 Manila Thriller Was slow to begin. CANB 24/09/2022 Super Riff Was unable to be tested over the final 200m after the riders’ reins had become entangled over his helmet and was unable to be untangled. WAGG 06/03/2023 White Liar Slow to begin. BATH 23/02/2023 Race 5 NVS PAVING AND LANDSCAPING HANDICAP 1000m Amazing Nicci Approaching the 100m bumped another rnr. Inconvenienced over the concluding stages. Protest against 1st dismissed. WYNG 21/02/2023 Platara Was slow to begin. On straightening was angled inwards to continue into clear running. MRYA 05/03/2023 Chief Conductor When questioned, rdr reported mnt travelled only satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages and when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, the colt commenced to lay in and was disappointing in the manner in which it finished its race off. Rdr opined mnt would take benefit from today’s race after having a month since its most recent race start, and would be better suited over longer distances. A postrace vet exam rev no abs. HAWK 15/03/2022 Lonrioli Rdr reported that from a wide barrier his mount was able to hold a forward position outside the lead as expected. He added that mnt did not travel strongly at any stage, raced disappointingly & may have come to the end of its prep. A post-race vet exam did not rev any abs. Co-tnr advised that the filly would now be spelled. RAND15/10/2022 Symo’s Girl Slow to begin. From a wide barrier was then shifted behind runners in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn.W FM01/03/2023 Scream Raced very wide throughout. Passing the 800m had to be checked for some distance until near the 700m when it had to be shifted out to avoid heels and thereafter made contact with another rnr.CANB 24/02/2023 Beau Rock Raced three-wide throughout. CANB 24/02/2023 Redhair’n’freckles Ride reported on return to scale that his mount did not handle the (Soft 5) surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed small lacerations to the inside of the offhindleg. GUND 11/11/2022 Maresca Was a little slow to begin. QBYN26/02/2023 Successful Passing the 100m was hampered. CANB 24/02/2023 Eurosay Began awkwardly. For some distance after the 200m was not tested when in restricted room. WYNG 21/02/2023 Clear Choice Rdr reported the gelding raced greenly after being crossed in the early stages. He added that entering the home straight near the 300m, the gelding raced greenly and brushed the running rail. W FM08/02/2023 Avebury (NZ) Near the 1100m was steadied off the heels of another runner, which shifted inwards when not quite clear. NCLE 25/02/2023 Shalook Was momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. ALB 25/02/2023 Bindi’s Choice Began awkwardly, shifted out & made contact with another rnr. From a wide barrier was then shifted behind rnrs in early stages. K GR 07/02/2023 Lady Percival’s shifted in over the final 100m and made contact with another rnr near the 75m. NCLE 11/02/2023 Offspring The filly which was fractious in the barriers and got its off-hind leg up on the running board was examined by the Club’s veterinary officer and passed fit to start. Trainer was advised that a warning would be recorded against the filly concerning its barrier manners and for also being subsequently difficult to reload when it continued to be fractious.
