6 How To Bet Maximum Bookmaker Bet Limits Up until 3 minutes prior to the advertised starting time of the race bookmakers need not risk more that $1,000 on any one bet– When a bookmaker refuses to accept a bet which is in excess of the maximum amount which he is obliged to accept under the provision of this rule, the bookmaker must inform the bettor of the lesser amount which the bookmaker is obliged to accept under the rule. Betting Deductions Explained After a Bookmaker has posted their prices for a race, a horse may be scratched for any number of reasons. When this occurs the Bookmakers original prices are now incorrect, as they were based on scratched horse/s taking part in the event. Bookmakers have no jurisdiction over deductions and are directed by the Northern Territory governing racing bodies who have adopted the ARB (Australian Racing Board) sanctioned method of calculating a deduction. Depending on the amount of horses scratched, and their price, the deduction will differ. For example if a short priced favorite is scratched the deduction is greatly increased, and the more horses scratched the higher the deduction. However when a long shot or higher priced horse is scratched the deduction is minimal or none as it has less effect on the price. A bookmaker has to refund the money on scratched horse/s To place a UBet on course, tell the operator the following about the bet(s) you want to make: 1. Meeting location and race number 2.
