A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate. ABLE KEN (V Arnott) – Race wide from the 600m and hung outwards in the straight. Trainer L Walling-Denton advised that it was her intention to experiment with an alternative type of lugging bit in the geldings’ track work in an attempt to improve its racing manner. Trainer was advised that as the gelding has been previously embargoed for this trait, any similar occurrence in future will result in further action being taken. Race 2: 0-64 1300m WINDSOR CUP (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly. Race 3: Open 1300m ARCTIC SONG (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout. SKY MUSTER (K Gladwin) – When questioned regarding the performance rider advised that his mount had raced keenly in the early stages and when he became aware that the saddle had shifted on the runner racing to his inside it commenced to lay out into the first turn and consequently he raced in restricted room between runners through the middles stages. He further advised that he was further impeded and had difficulty in fully testing his mount in the straight when again in restricted room. KAPTAN APOLLO (B Davis) – Rider reported that his saddle became displaced at the start and consequently he was unable to hold his position on the rail as his mount lay outwards through the middle stages. As a result he was also unable to ride the gelding competitively in the event. MARBEL DUKE (M Hart) – Obliged to race wide through the middle stages and lay inwards in the straight. Race 4: Class2 1200m MULK (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout. SON OF A FLING (B Davis) – Commenced awkwardly Race 5: BM54 1100m VANZETTA (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and failed to race competitively. When questioned rider advised that the mare commenced with the field but dropped the bit at the 900m and despite his urgings failed to stretch out from thereon. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Given the mares’ recent unplaced form in addition to the uncompetitive performance today, trainer S Clarke was advised that the mare must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Race 6: BMNT 1100m TREBLA (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout. The gelding required post race veterinary treatment after tying up. AWESOME MO (M Hart) – Raced ungenerously through the middle stages. LOTS OF COIN (J Todd) – Bounded at the start and unbalanced its rider. STRATEGO (B Huppatz) – Rider fumbled and dropped his whip near the 200m. Summary Swab samples were taken from all winners.
