2 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE On behalf of the Swan Hill Jockey Club (SHJC), I am proud to welcome you to the 2022 “bet365 Swan Hill June Racing Carnival”. After two years of no crowds on course it is fantastic to see patrons back on course to enjoy three days of country racing at its best. Like all small towns Swan Hill has been adversely affected by Covid and I’m sure our local traders, hotels, motels etc are more than pleased to see an influx of visitors to town. Today is Pooles Accountants Golden Topaz Day and the first of three days of great racing action. Thank you to Pooles Accountants who continue to sponsor this great race, your support is greatly valued. The “Pooles GoldenTopaz” today is worth $150,000 in prize money and along with the “No Fuss Event Hire Vobis Gold Elvstroem Classic” which is another $125,000 race. All up there is $545,000 in prize money on offer for Day 1. As well as great racing action and quality fields we have a host of hospitality and entertainment options on offer. A special welcome to patrons today enjoying the Swan Hill Women in Racing (SHWIR) Golden Topaz in The Hub. SHWIR are this year celebrating their 25-year anniversary. A wonderful achievement and on behalf of SHJC our sincere thanks to Sharon Anderson and her hard-working committee. I would also like to take this time to congratulate Sharon on receiving life membership of SHJC. Sharon is the first woman to be awarded this honour in over 150 years of the SHJC and I’m sure she wont be the last. I would like to thank our wonderful team at Swan Hill Jockey Club in Aaron, Alison, Josh, Mitch, and Joe, along with other casual staff who worked throughout the year. The staffing team and the rest of the SHJC committee and volunteers are continuing to improve our racing surface and facilities each year. Thanks, must also go to the support provided by Country Racing Victoria, Racing Victoria, and the State Government. Without your assistance our improvements each year would not be possible, thank you. Finally, I would like to thank everyone attending Day 1 of our carnival and to those visiting our region we hope you enjoy our hospitality.
