very great racing city needs a great racing
event that brings together the best of the best.
The Championships, and initiative of Racing
NSW, hosted by the Australian Turf Club, gives
Sydney that event.
Since Australia’s first race was run in Hyde Park in
1810, Sydney and Regional New South Wales have
been the home of thoroughbred racing in Australia.
It seems fitting that Sydney is now home to the
pinnacle event of the autumn racing season.
As the grand final of the BMW Sydney Carnival,
The Championships take place over two first-class
Saturdays on April 12 and 19, with over $18 million
in prizemoney on offer. These two days see the
best of the best Thoroughbreds and creates the
ultimate racing experience in Sydney. Enjoy the
fashion, entertainment, dining and history of one of
the most festive racing carnivals in the world.
