5 The 2019 Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival is a festival of racing, entertainment, food and community and we look forward to welcoming all of our members to help us celebrate what promises to be another unforgettable Carnival. This year, the Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival brings with it the promise of legendary new beginnings and it exciting to see the contenders from far and wide put their names forward to contend the 99th running of the W.S. Cox Plate and 52nd running of the Manikato Stakes. The Ladbrokes Cox Plate, The Race Where Legends Are Made , will attract the best of the best to be at The Valley on October 26 for their chance at glory. The TasmanianmareMystic Journey is out to claim the title as the new Queen of The Valley, while contenders in Feehan Stakes winner Homesman, Godolphin’s Avilius and international raiders Lys Gracieux, Danceteria and Kluger are amongst a host of contenders putting their name forward. We are all set for an intriguing contest. This year we also celebrate the 23rd anniversary of night racing here at The Valley. Over the years we have had many memorable moments under lights, and Season 23 promises not to disappoint. Over $9.5 million in prizemoney and 15 black-type races will be run across the Night Racing Season, with the Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes Night launching our new season. Stage A of the Master Plan redevelopment is now underway with the beginning of the build of 67 premium townhouses on McPherson Street. This officially starts us on our journey to The Valley of Tomorrow, allowing the Club to transform into a worldclassracing, residentialandlifestyleprecinct. The most exciting part of the redevelopment will see the MVRC build a brand-new track and state- of-the-art grandstand post the 2024 Ladbrokes Cox Plate. The Club has provided a further update in this edition of On Track, however if you would like to find out more, there is a mini display suite in the Octagonal Lounge each race meeting that outlines the Club’s Master Plan in detail. This is such an exciting time for the Club, and we look forward to having you come on the ride with us. I would like to welcome all MVRC Members, new and long-standing, to enjoy all that this season of racing has to offer and would also like to congratulate Jonathan Sayer, Christopher White and Tony Cavanagh on becoming Life Members of the Moonee Valley Racing Club. I look forward to seeing you trackside, Spring has finally sprung in Melbourne and that means one thing that excites all of us – the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is upon us.
