14 MASTER PLAN UPDATE THE VALLEY OF TOMMOROW In exciting news for our members, the Moonee Valley Racing Club and Hostplus – Hamton joint venture is well underway to realising our vision for the Valley of Tomorrow. Underpinned by a unique botanical vision, Moonee Valley Park is set to become a new premium neighbourhood integrated within expansive parklands. Around 50%of the overall sitewill be dedicated to new botanical green spaces with access to new parklands, bike paths, walking trails, sporting fields and playgrounds. A pedestrian friendly neighbourhood with every convenience within walking distance. Moonee Valley Park’s first stage release (Stage A) formally launched the Feehan Row town homes on September 14, with construction at Moonee Valley Park to commence late 2019 / early 2020, with completion programmed for mid-2021. The Thomas Street apartment building (Stage B), comprising of 69 apartments, is expected to be launched to market early next year. The urban design of the Thomas Street apartments embraces the growing inner Melbourne appeal of apartment living, with a network of activated communal spaces within the botanical precinct. CHILDCARE CENTRE OPENS ITS DOORS The Childcare Centre officially opened its doors in June 2019 in the notable heritage building on the corner of McPherson & Thomas Streets, once home to the former Secretary of the Moonee Valley Racing Club. The MVRC funded the Childcare Centre’s redevelopment, with full oversight on the refurbishment and has secured a long-term lease with Think Childcare (Nido Early Learning) with the capacity to care for up to 91 children . Watch the video o f the official opening. NEW TOTE CAFÉ TO LAUNCH IN 2020 Ahead of the 100th running of the W.S. Cox Plate in October 2020, the Moonee Valley Racing Club will deliver a fully licenced café/ restaurant when it refurbishes and brings to life the historically significant Tote building, near the existing betting ring, to be located in the new Tote Park in August next year. The existing administration office for the MVRC will be demolished in January 2020 for this exciting project to begin, with staff to relocate temporarily in December 2019 to the Grandstand for an interim period.
