60 ON TRACK MAGAZINE CHILDCARE CENTRE Council issued a planning permit in May 2018 which will see the historic Racing Secretary’s residence on the corner of McPherson and Thomas Street’s restored and repurposed as a childcare centre operated by an experienced ASX-listed operator. The design carefully respects the heritage of the existing building with the contemporary addition receiving the support of the Council’s Heritage Advisor. The historic Edna Walling garden will also be maintained. The centre is scheduled to be occupied by mid- 2019 and will provide the local community with a much needed additional 91 childcare places.
