MV On Track 2018
ON TRACK MAGAZINE 49 CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY The MVRC was proud to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 and highlight the role women play in the racing industry and, in particular, at our Club. 41% of our full-time staff at the MVRC are female and we celebrated that fact with an afternoon tea on the day, with the ladies getting into the spirit and paying homage to super mare Winx! GIVING TO THOSE IN NEED AT CHRISTMAS Team members of the MVRC are each given a delicious Christmas hamper to take home each festive season to be enjoyed with family and friends, which includes a choice of ham or turkey and Christmas cake. The Club gave staff the option to donate their food to OzHarvest to serve on Christmas Day and the uptake was overwhelming, with the team from OzHarvest (Australia’s leading food rescue organisation) delighted by the generosity shown from our staff. WALK FOR PHIL STOPS BY THE VALLEY Staff from the MVRC were trackside a little earlier than normal on April 20 when The Valley acted as the starting point for the annual Walk for Phil charity event. A large contingent of walkers, including a team from the MVRC, started with a complimentary breakfast before setting off on their 23 kilometre trek to Flemington racecourse before concluding at Caulfield. Over $70,000 was raised for Very Special Kids and Pinchapoo in honour of the late Phil Sly, a popular horse owner and breeder.
