There are a number of bodies in Australia that represent the interests of different
stakeholders within the racing and breeding industry. Some of these bodies have State
branches that represent a smaller membership and provide delegates to a national body.

About Racing Information Services Australia (RISA)
RISA is the official thoroughbred racing industry organisation in Australia
responsible for the compilation of racing materials and a leading provider of
racing industry services. This includes the compilation, dissemination and
commercialisation of race fields and form and the maintenance of race results.
RISA is currently project managing the development and management of
the ‘Single National System’, a three year project heralding an unparalleled
and unique opportunity for the industry to consolidate its many technology
platforms onto one system. This will create opportunities for greater
efficiencies, removal of duplications in infrastructure in each State & Territory
and substantive benefits for industry participants in many of their core
interactions including but not limited to licensing, stakes payments, horse
registration and bonus scheme administration.
RISA’s core services to name a selection include:
• The Registrar of Racehorses which is responsible annually for the naming
and registration of on average 13,000 thoroughbred racehorses nationally
• The RISA Service Centre (phone) and Stable Assist (online) used by
trainers nationally (except for Western Australia) for the compilation of
the race fields via the nomination; acceptances, scratching and stable
return process
• RISA Materials which distributes over 1 million racing material files
annually including fields and form, jockeys silks & calendars
• Fully interactive online services including risa.com.au and an
accompanying mSite which provide access to expansive race fields,
race form, race results, & statistics, averaging over 5.5 million page
views per month
Complimenting these core responsibilities, RISA proudly offers a suite of
integrated industry centric products and services which aim to attract and
retain industry participants while driving efficiencies and reducing the cost of
business processes.
Principal Racing Authorities, race clubs, owners, trainers, breeders, jockeys,
media, wagering operators and punters Australia wide benefit from RISA’s
expertise in combining racing materials with digital publishing and technical
expertise. These include:
• Innovative content and design of print and online on course race books,
wall charts and newspaper form guides to ensure they are engaging and
informative for both the casual and regular racegoer
• Fully hosted websites and integrated private label racing material
publications which are customisable & searchable
• RISA Connect - an online high functionality, low cost communications
system for broadcasting messages including SMS, Email &, Voice which
integrates with industry databases to make communication to industry
participants seamless. On average, the Thoroughbred Racing Industry uses
