In the 2016 covering season, 19,153 mares had recorded coverings by 575 stallions, a decrease of 1.28% on the previous year’s coverings. The 2017 foal crop has been estimated to be 13,034, a marginal decrease of 0.5% of the 2016 foal crop estimate of 13,100.
