Racing Australia Annual Report 2017

Racing Australia Annual Report 2017 | 15 The appointment of an IT Manager during the year and the realignment of the companies IT resources into project teams have enabled a revaluation of major projects such as the Single National System to deliver improved efficiencies and quality of output. While overall revenue increased year on year, actual revenue declined across three areas of the business. Publishing revenue derived from the pre-press service of on course race books and newspaper form guide inserts declined by 0.25% due to fewer on course race books being produced. On average Racing Australia delivered pre-press services totalling an average of 111 race books per month versus an average of 115 per month in the previous financial year. This is the first clear sign of a sustained reduction in race books being published by race clubs which has bucked the global trend of a reduction in print media continuing to grow in previous years. The Registrar of Racehorses has over the previous three years declined by 0.87% which equates to 495 fewer racehorses being registered in the year versus the previous year. Over the previous two years the Australian Stud Book live foal and stallion fees has declined by 3.30% while overall revenue increased due to the export and import fees.
